The Con part II
This is going to sound very bizarre but it
is the honest truth…
After I posted The Con, the Mr sent me a
chat laughing at how silly we both were because he had been conned too in
February but could not bring himself to tell me because he wasn’t sure what I
would say to him. I was conned towards the end of March and couldn’t tell him
because I was sure he would give me a lecture.
Here is where the plot thickens. After a
good laugh I agreed to tell him my story if he told me his. AND GUESS
WHAT!!!??? His story was 99% similar to mine. There were a few variations in
the stories but by and large it was the same story. We were conned by the same
man. He used the same name and the same mobile number.
TALENT
MAPHOSA 0772 046 186.
The
Mr and I live 289kms apart, him in Bulawayo (my home town) in me in Masvingo
(my work town). If this man could con two people who happen to be dating, in
different cities, in two different months, how many more people has he conned
across the country!!!!??? My point is this man is probably taking money from
people all over the country everyday!!!!!! But no one will talk about it because
it is embarrassing. And so because no one is talking and raising awareness
about his scam his business continues to flourish.
Imagine if the Mr had told me about his
experience in February, I would have been weary when Talent Maphosa approached
me. I am thinking Famous 5, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys; I would have entertained
him in my office for long enough to send an sms to my friend at the police
station telling him that I had a suspected criminal in my office… and you know
the rest gunshots, blood stains, hand cuffs and a medal from the Mayor…

| they weren't this nice but they were white |
On a more serious note, instead of being embarrassed
that I was conned out of $180 I am going to use to this
nasty experience to raise awareness and hopefully stop this man in white shoes
from stealing any more money from hard
working Zimbabwean citizens

This little story will forever make me smile. Forever.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it wasn't random. maybe someone is out to get both of you.
