VIVA
Friday the 11th of May, I took
myself out on a date. That was the plan; to go by myself and enjoy some alone
time. A couple of people didn’t seem to quite understand this, some even volunteered
to accompany me (lovely friends) but I truly had purchased one ticket
intentionally.
The show was a performance by a group
called “Viva” Thailand’s first pop opera band. The group comprised of 5 band
members two female and three male.
They sang in Thai, Spanish, French, Italian and
English. They are not songwriters and so their performances were "other artist
songs”. As an upcoming group with brilliant voices I think we can pardon them
for now.
They sang, smiled and danced. Their performances
were either extremely jovial or extremely emotional. Once or twice (maybe more)
their high pitches gave me goose bumps.
The gentlemen seemed to favour tight
fitting pants, these must be the latest haute couture in Thailand besides I
wasn’t complaining (wink wink). They changed once, from suits, which I suspected were Paul
Smith because of the cuts, to black denims and black shirts.
The ladies on the other hand changed twice,
they started of in gorgeous flowing evening dresses, then they changed into
short colourful/ black dresses which had me a tad bit confused. Look at the
picture below. Their last outfits were
little black dinner dresses that had me green with envy.
From their selection, the songs I could
identify were;
-I will always love you
-The phantom of the opera
-My heart will go on; most of u know it as
the titanic song
-We are the champions, no time for losers; I
don’t know the title
-Finiculi Finicula; which made me smile
because our high school choir used to sing it well
-21 guns; they did the numbers and the gun
with their fingers while they sang (cute)
-You raise me up
-I wana know what love is and
-Ave maria
The performance lasted 2 hours, 2 very
happy hours.
