Living a dollar a day
Living life a dollar a day…
There are always long queues at X supermarket between 4pm
and 5pm as people make their way home from work. Why is this supermarket so
popular you ask, well the owner has decided to cash in on the “living by the
dollar” craze. What he does is he packs meat; chicken, pork and beef in small
quantities and prices them at $1.
Now because everyone prefers to live a dollar a day people
buy this meat without considering the cost per kg. Only when one takes the time
to calculate the price per kg (like I did)
do they realise that they are being
overcharged.
A dollar for meat
A dollar for airtime
A dollar for bread (if it costs more its overpriced, if it
costs less its substandard)
A dollar for transport (50c to and 50c from)
Its all about living a dollar a day
The easiest way to get the Zimbabwean market hooked on a
product is to price it at a $1 for 2 and never refer to it as 50c but simply $1
for 2 and you have them hook, line and sinker. Delta with the drinks, Lyons
with the ice cream etc.
Most people didn’t even
notice that the quantity of Cascade was reduced but the price remained the same
because it is priced at $1 for 2.
