My Dearest Friend Got Married on Saturday...

My dearest friend is getting married on Saturday (poor girl) I am going to be a bridesmaid on Saturday (yay me) that is what I posted on facebook a few days before the wedding.
The thing about being a bridesmaid and friend is that you "know" the relationship; you know all the things she loves about him and all the things she hates, because you are her friend you know why he is good for her and why he isn’t but unfortunately on this day you have no say. It’s a done deal, its happening and you have yourself a front row seat... bitter sweet...
My main concern was trying to figure out where I fit into this marriage (my boyfriend tells me I have an infallible way of making everything about me). So anyway, where do I fit in; can I still call her as and when I please, can I still crash at her place (their place now) for a whole week and, this is the big one, can I still take whatever item of clothing I find desirable in her wardrobe? I guess I will find out soon enough…
So the wedding was beautiful, one of the best I have ever been to. I am sure the guests enjoyed it (wish they knew all the hustle and bustle that had gone into it).
While the bride and groom were saying their vows I was secretly saying my own vows to the both of them (vows that I will not reveal least they be used against me later). But the long and short of it is that he cannot hurt her and she cannot shut me out…
Now comes the part that made me regret my aforesaid Facebook post. The part where all the glitz and glam is over we got back to basics. Take off your fancy dresses and bring out the Zambia and the doekie, tavekuenda kunopereka muroora. The shone culture can be really brutal at times.
Summary: up at 5 wearing boring unflattering clothes.
            Clean the kitchen
            Sweep the yard
Boil water (on a fire) for 30++ people to bath
Cook lunch and wash dishes for these 30++ people
Get on your knees and greet anyone who comes your way.
Those were truly the longest 8 hours of my life. Yes, I was on my feet for 8 hours straight.
But at the end of the day I did it for someone I love, someone who makes me happy to be me, someone whose company and conversation I cherish.

Congratulations My Dearest friend who got married on Saturday (yay her) while I was a bridesmaid on Saturday (poor me)…
