The forgotten boy child...

Poor boy child, they forgot about you didn’t they?

The world had a problem with the girl child and all efforts were invested in guaranteeing her the equity she deserved.  Programs were developed to educate parents about her importance, schools opened their doors to her, and organisations spoke to her and gave her a voice.

She paid attention to the efforts, opened her ears, and heard the possibility, she opened her eyes and saw the potential and she opened her heart and in it hope found a home.  She realised that she was no different from you, what you could do, she could do too. Most times she had to do it better for the world to notice her.

She took all that the world was offering her and she ran, she ran fast, she ran far and she is still running.

You stayed the same, and now you don’t know how to handle her because she sits at the same table that you sit at. A few years ago, she was not at that table, she was not even welcome in the room!

Let me assure you that it was not intentional, they simply thought you already GOT it, you knew what to do. You would evolve as she was evolving. Only to realise that hadn’t quite got it, you thought that your privileges were infinite. You didn’t realise that you were never better than her, she just wasn’t given the same opportunities and privileges that you were.

Promises of financial security won’t make her cling to you, raised voices and clenched fists won’t make her do what you want, and threats of leaving her won’t make her doubt herself and cling to you for validation.

Now you have to figure out how to deal with her because she is here to grow more.

You have to find out what it she wants so that you know what to offer. Because she isn’t buying what you are currently selling.

You have to step up because she is alive now and she isnt going anywhere...

To be continued…
