The fight...
“We are running late, where are my car keys? You will find
me at the gate”
“Nya nya nya, these things never start on time, relax Tom.
Besides I am almost done”
Laura turned around to find that she was talking to herself,
Tom was already on his way outside. Shoes, bag and comb in hand Laura quickly
made her way to the car.
“I just needed five more minutes Tom, there was no need to
rush me” she remarked as she closed the car door.
“Five minutes is never five minutes with you. If I had left
you a little while longer you would have decided that you want to try on another
dress and that would mean another pair of earrings and another bag. I have five
years of experience babes, you can’t fool me”
“Oh Tom, you are such a drama queen” Laura laughed
“So Tom honey, there is something I need to talk to you
about, I think maybe we should consider adopting”. Laura let out in a shaky
voice.
“What?”
“I think maybe we should consider adopting a baby” Laura
repeated.
“I heard you the first time Laura, I just don’t believe that
you could ever think that, or even say it out loud”
“Tom I visited the Children’s home in Watoka last week, Tom
there are so many beautiful babies that need a family. And we need a … “
“We don’t need anything Laura, didn’t we agree that we will
pray, stand in faith and wait for God’s time” Tom shouted as he made parked the
car at the side of the road. “Who made you God Laura? Who gave you the power to
shop for a baby??”
“I am not deciding anything Tom, I am just saying that maybe
some of these alternatives exist for people in our situation. Maybe we need to
think outside the box. Maybe we should be proactive in finding a solution to
our problem”. Tears were streaming down Laura’s face.
“People in our situation.. proactive in finding a solution?? Let’s go home Laura, I don’t feel like going to the party anymore” Tom remarked as he made a U Turn and headed for home.
“Tom, I didn’t mean to upset you, it’s just something that’s
been on my mind and I thought maybe we should discuss it, I am sorry Tom”“People in our situation.. proactive in finding a solution?? Let’s go home Laura, I don’t feel like going to the party anymore” Tom remarked as he made a U Turn and headed for home.
“It’s ok, let’s just forget the whole conversation”
