4 Men and an Accident...
I recently witnessed a car accident the purpose of this post
is not to bore you with the details of the accident but to tell you about 4
types of people I noticed in the few moments after the accident.
There were those who ran towards the scene and started
pushing the car forward to free the woman who was stuck under the car. These are
the real MVPs. Men of action whose first instinct is to solve problems. I salute
you.
There were those that stood from a distance and shouted
orders. “has the hand brake been released” ”move the car to the right” “has anyone
called the police?”… Why are you asking if anyone has called the police, call them
yourself. Lots of orders and no action, not
even a demonstration of what they meant. If you ask me, this group of people
would make very lousy managers.
In the midst of all the goings on, there were also the story
tellers. People who probably hadn’t seen exactly what had transpired but were
busy telling anyone and everyone their version of events. These people were the
first to answer when someone asked what had happened. I watched one of these
tell their story to the wind. No one had asked but the brother was communicating
to an absent audience. To what end? Only he knows…
There were those who took a sneak peak and walked on by. probably
have enough troubles of their own. Too many troubles to worry about the woman stuck
under a car. Or maybe they did the maths and figured they had no meaningful contribution
to make towards aiding the situation and therefore why stick around. I don’t
know why they walked on by but they did….
My bad, here were five types of people. The fifth type is people like me. I did not move
towards the actual scene because I was aware that I would make no valuable input
(I really should get some basic first aid training). I did however stick around
and analyse the events as the unfolded so that I could have a story for you… I
do these things for your reading pleasure…..
