Shopping for a mini skirt

I plan to purchase a mini skirt. Not just any mini skirt, this mini skirt will be a protest mini skirt.

What am I protesting against you ask?

I am protesting against any man, every man who has ever stood in front of a judge and argued that he committed the grave and disgusting crime of rape simply because his victim was wearing a short skirt, a tight skirt or a tight pair of pants.

We all know that our fore fathers walked barely clothed. Women walked bare breasted and covered their waists with micro reed skirts. The younger girls walked naked. So kindly explain to me what is lacking in the men of today that the men of yesteryear possessed?? Did the men of yesteryear walk around blind folded in order to avoid succumbing to temptation? Did they live isolated from these bare breasted women so as to avoid the “inevitable” act of rape. Or were these poor bare breasted, reed skirt clad women raped at every trip to the river?? What has taken over the men of today that compels them to force themselves on a woman at the sight of human flesh? My answer is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Of course there will always be men who look at a woman in a mini and feel repulsed while others will feel aroused. But the one who takes his personal thoughts and feelings and uses them as justification to violate an innocent woman walking in what she has chosen to cloth her body in, that man is the man I have a problem with.I don’t like men’s printed viscose shirts, but I sure as hell wont go around punching every man I see wearing one. It is his body to cloth as he pleases.

As I have already mentioned I appreciate that minute and tight clothing may have an arousing effect on the opposite sex but it is their responsibility to control themselves and their emotions. Failure to do so can not be pinned on me or any other woman.

Can a man rob a store and blame his actions on the store owner who left goods on display. NEVER.

I am going to buy a mini skirt to protest against the ridiculous reasons that too many a man has given for committing this horrible and despicable act.

p.s after I have purchased it, I plan on wearing it (just in case you were wondering)

  1. Ahh Tarie, I just followed the link from FB to read more. Whoever said those ladies in the times of our forefathers were ever safe? Maybe its just that its not written anywhere and there were not as many rights groups to fight for their "cause." Maybe they faced the same issues with today's ladies if not worse. Maybe they became safer when they started wearing longer material. Please get me right on my comment, I am not condoning rowdy behaviour by men. Just a thought.

On another note did you buy the miniskirt?

  2. Well i believe its the new culture propagated by the media that females are an object to be attained. And anonymous above i wld invite u to investigate the stats on rape at beach resort towns like Cape town , Rio , Miami where females walk around barely clothed but aint harrased by every tom dick an harry

    1. Anonymous 2, you said it very correctly, at those beach resort towns there isn't every tom, dick & harry going to the beach. Whether we like it or not, for the safety of the ladies, it matters what u wear & where hence it does matter where u put on that mini skirt.

And the point in 1 above was not to say in places where women walk naked (barely clothed), they get harrased or raped every now & then, but just to get clarity on the writer's statement about our forefathers.
