Endless Possibilities - Edmore Masendeke

I have admiringly watched Edmore Masendeke from a distance since i was 13 years old when he was my senior at Victoria High School.

Thoughts of Edmore have always been 'sobering and inspiring' for me. Sobering in the sense that despite having being born with Celebral palsy, i have never, not once, seen or heard Edmore pity himself. Edmore has achieved alot academically, proffessionally and personally. He has travelled around the world and represented himself, his family and his country in various capacities including being a YALI fellow, a board member at Dyslexia in Africa Trust. Watching Edmore has often made me question every excuse I have given myself for 'not getting things done'.

Edmore inspires me because he had and has alot of valid reasons to not have aspired to much (slurred speech and a limp amongst them) but he has chosen to live his life to the fullest and get meaningful things done while setting an example to all the people around him. Did i mention that he does it with a smile too...

Despite working an 8 to 5 as Economist, Edmore is the founder of Endless Possibilities which is an organisation that empowers people with disabilities and advocates for their rights with a focus on education, employment, independant living and social integration.

On the 2nd of December, Endless Possibilities hosted an International Day of People with Disabilities Commenmoration Dinner. This dinner is one of many events taking place around the world to 'promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and well being of people living with disabilities'  (United Nations).

Proceeds of the dinner will be channelled towards ensuring that people with disabilities in Dzivarasekwa are given an opportunity to make their homes accessible through means such as wheelchair ramps, wider doors and grab bars. Although the actual dinner has occurred anyone wishing to contribute to this worthwhile cause can contact Edmore on mrmasendeke@gmail.com or visit www.endlesspossibilitiesint.org

I will continue to watch Edmore going about the business of emancipating himself and improving the lives of other and i will continue to allow watching him to 'sober and inspire' me...
